Spring Training

Football has its various camps to prepare for their season. Baseball has it spring training. Theater, or I should say Action Arts Theater, has it summer to prepare for its season of shows.

The locker room (green room) has been cleaned out. The equipment (props) has been checked. The uniforms (costumes) have been sorted. Now it is time to try out the talent.

Action Arts is holding its general season auditions on July 14 and 16th at 7pm at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts. The auditions are a great opportunity for the various coaches (directors) to see new talent as well as check out the more polished veterans. Not all the shows are cast from this one audition but it does help the directors find key position players and it helps them beef up their roster.

Woman in Black Wows Audiences

Opening weekend of The Woman in Black has come and gone but the buzz is huge for this well staged ghost story. Audience members were praising the acting skills of Action Arts newcomers Rick Davis and Scott Grumling. One season pass member gave me the thumbs up at intermission noting that the show was a hit. As the director, I am a bit biased but I have to give credit where it is due to the two gentlemen who carry the show on stage, the two gentlemen who carry the show in the lighting and sound booth and the two gentlemen who carry the furniture. It is a group effort and everyone involved gives 110%.

We were very lucky to have a great article published in The Ticket for The Woman in Black. The Ticket is the arts and entertainment section of the Montgomery County Newspapers headed by Frank Quattrone. Frank has been a huge advocate of our company and his assistance is greatly appreciated. A link to the article is below so check it out.

If you haven't seen this show yet, I suggest to come out next weekend. It should not be missed.
